36 weeks and here comes the baby!
My Birth Story!

Short version:
Brayden Michael arrived on Saturday, October 27, 2007 at 12:10am. He weighed 6 lbs, 3/4 oz and was 18 1/2 inches long.
Long version:
On Friday, October 26th at 2pm I started having contractions. I was on my way home from work and noticed that my contractions were every 10-15 minutes apart. The feeling was the same as usual, nothing painful or bothersome, but my dr asked that I call if I have more than 4-5 in one hour. Jay actually had the day off work and decided to have a daddy/daughter day with Kelsey before the baby comes. So, I get home and tell Jay about the contractions. He said, okay let's go to the hospital. I told him that I'd rather wait a little bit and see if they keep coming. Sure enough, they do. I called my dr and she wants me to go ahead to triage. Jay was a little nervous on our way to the hospital because it was 4pm and we get stuck in a little traffic. When we arrive to triage, the nurse checks me and I'm dilated to a 4 (I was a 3 on Tuesday). Luckily, my dr is on-call Friday and the entire weekend so she shows up minutes later to check on me at 5:45pm. She calls me a 5 then wants the nurse to check me again to see if the nurse made a mistake earlier or if I've really dilated that quickly in such a short amount of time. The nurse checks me and sure enough they are on the same page, I really did dilate that quickly. Meanwhile, Kelsey is sitting there watching everything and she's so scared. She thinks they are hurting her mommy so I call my parents to come get her for us. I just *knew* they were going to send us home but nope, Dr R tells me that I'm in labor. She said it's a mute point, she's not going to stop it and I'm getting admitted to L&D. Jay's eyes are as big as saucers!
So, they move us to L&D and my nurse is a complete dud. It's about 6:45pm and she can't find my veins to place my IV. I was just staring at Jay, he knew I was so frustrated. I'm so fair-skinned that everyone has always told me how easy my veins are to find! I'm stuck with her till 11pm, ugh.
At about 8:15pm, I'm at a 6 and I get my epi and water broken. It happened so fast and my contractions still weren't painful so I debated on whether to delay getting the epi. I knew that once they break my water things happen even quicker so I decided to go ahead with the epi.
We had quite the scare afterwards. My heartrate went wayyyy down and Brady's heartrate went wayyyy up. They gave me some ephedrine in my IV and gave me oxygen to regulate everything. Then my dr broke my water and it was nothing but blood. They were afraid there may have been a tear in the placenta. My dr then warned us that if any little thing happens in a split second, I'm getting a c-section. I told my dr that I really didn't care--I was so calm. I mean, whatever way he gets here is fine with me as long as he's okay. The nurse then brings Jay some clothes just in case we have a c.
At about 9:15pm, I'm at a 7 but close to an 8. At about 9:30pm, they finally take me off the oxygen as my heartrate is stabilized. At 11pm, I get a new nurse--YAY!!! She walks in with a bag of pitocin and said to me "are you ready to have a baby?" lol YUP! She said, alright then let's do it! In almost 2 hours, I hadn't changed anymore so she hooked me up to some pitocin. Then after an hour or so, she cranked it up some more. Shortly after that, I noticed some pressure. I told my nurse that I couldn't tell if it was the urge to push or just pressure. Not 30 minutes later, there was no denying it-- i HAD to push. The nurse checked me and said that I was a 9 1/2. I couldn't push yet b/c I still had some cervix left and she said that I'd risk tearing my cervix if I pushed too soon. That was the worst feeling ever--having the strongest urge to push and being told not to push!!! Ugh. My dr was there the entire time just waiting for things to happen. So, I'm just breathing through the contractions/urges and minutes later, I told her that I seriously HAD to push and I couldn't wait anymore. She came and checked me again and she said, okay PUSH. I pushed for ten minutes and my precious son was born on Saturday October 27th at 12:10am! It was so amazing and I still can not stop thinking about the entire experience. My friend, Tiffany joked that my next child will just fall out. LOL
I wondered how I could love another child as much as I love Kelsey. I guess my heart has really grown because I am soooo in love with Brady. After I had Kelsey, I said that the most romantic thing was seeing your husband with your child for the first time. After I had Brady, I said that the most sweetest moment was seeing Kelsey with her baby brother for the first time. She is adjusting so well...so far. She is so mothering to him. When she wakes up every morning the first thing she wants to do is see her brother. Gosh, how I love my life. I am so incredibly blessed.

35 week dr appt!
On Tuesday, I had my 35 week dr appt.
I gained 4 lbs since my last dr appt. 26lbs + 4lbs = 30 lbs total.
She examined me and I'm dilated to a 3 already. She said that she would like for me to go to 37 weeks. We are hoping he comes on a Tuesday, every other Friday or this weekend so I don't get stuck w/ an on-call doctor.
I'm 36 weeks today and she's on-call this weekend! I feel really good about making it this long.
My next dr appt is Tuesday morning and I can't wait to see if I've progressed!!!
I can't believe our son will be here soon. I'm so excited to hold him and kiss him-- big head and all!

Kelsey's 2nd haircut
On Saturday, we took Kelsey to Snip-its. It is really a cool place for kids. If only Kelsey could have enjoyed it a little more. She cried the entire time. They played a video for her to watch while she got her trim but she wasn't interested. She quit crying when a little boy sat down in the seat across from her to get his haircut. By that time, she was already done. I lied and told them it was her first haircut since she was so upset. They took her picture, put her hair in a bag and gave her a certificate. It was really cute. Maybe she'll do better next time.

33 week ultrasound!
He's healthy!
He weighs 4 lbs, 14 oz which is average. All of his measurements were average except for his HEAD. His head is measuring 36 weeks, lol. The u/s tech said he's going to be a bobble head!
She also told us that when babies are born with big heads, they automatically want to get an u/s of his brain to see if there is any fluid on the brain. BUT she can easily look and see right now that there is no fluid on his brain, he just has a big ole head.
She commented on his breathing. It looked really good. Whew! We were able to see his testicles but not his wee-wee. She said "he's being modest today." hahaha!
He wouldn't move around for her to get all of the measurements so she used a buzzer on my belly. She told me it is the equivalent of an alarm clock for them and he will definitely kick me. Boy, did he ever! He was not happy. Poor thing was breathing so fast you could tell it scared him.
At least we know he is healthy and growing like he should! YAY!
